So if you think we’re all about running then pull up a chair and let us share what HSRC is really all about. Yes, we do constantly run around town. Yes, we are very social in nature. Yes, we make lots of jokes about one another. However, even with all the fun we have (and borderline immaturity) our collective eyes on what really matters. Giving to our community is a top priority. We accomplish this through the relationships we have formed as a club. We have a Facebook group dedicated to our charitable causes.
We are huge supporters of Ainsley’s Angels in Central Carolina. AACC is a group of runners that fundraise to purchase special running chariots (wheelchairs) so disabled people can experience the thrill of running races. Many of our members can be seen at races all over the Triangle riding, running and pushing for AACC.
Each year we raise money and sponsor local children in need for the holidays. We shop, purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to families through our relationships with local schools and churches.
Holly Springs Food Cupboard
Every Thanksgiving we hold a Turkey Trot 5k Fun Run. There is no entry fee for the race. Runners are asked to donate canned goods in lieu of paying a registration. All food collected is given to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. In 2016, we stared inviting runners from all over the Triangle to participate.
Periodically HSRC will send a group to volunteer at a local soup kitchen.
Habitat for Humanity
We also volunteer to help with construction projects set up through Habitat.
Our club organizes official timed and sponsored races. These races benefit local charities.
We also do various initiatives throughout the year such as sending packages to troops and coordinating meetups at local fundraising events.
